Taco Soup
A Potluck Favorite
Rick and Orte Knight
INGREDIENTS: |
½ pound ground turkey, ground beef or soy “meat” (optional) |
2 cans 15 ½ oz. beans (pinto, kidney, or black) |
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix |
2 cups water |
1 can diced green chilies |
15 oz. can corn, drained |
1 pkg. Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix |
15 oz. can Mexican style cut-up tomatoes |
1 onion chopped |
1 pkg. frozen mixed bell pepper strips |
_ Do not drain beans, except for black beans. Drain corn.
_ If you can’t find frozen pepper strips, fresh peppers may be substituted – slice or dice and allow to heat through until softened.
_ For a large gathering or potluck, make a double recipe – wait to add water until you reach your final location, then add water and heat thoroughly. Can easily be made ahead, refrigerated, and heated prior to serving.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Serve with fresh tortillas, tortilla chips or corn bread, grated cheese and a crisp green salad.

Music Ministry Quarterly Report
“Lord, make me an instrument of your will”
What are the instruments we use to worship?
1. Our voices uniting to praise God in Congregational Song is primary and improves by 30% when a congregation sits in close proximity to one another. Historically, the voice is the most ancient instrument used in worship.
2. Organ/Piano
3. The worship space (acoustics, placement of mikes, speakers, monitors). We have begun to create solutions to some problems we have had in this area but need to continue to upgrade and improve sound and equipment to enhance and facilitate ease of listening.
The congregational song must always be led (if not by someone then by the organ or piano). The tempo of hymns is set by the Organist/Pianist after determining how fast or slow would the text be spoken. Listening to the introduction, you hear the tempo that is set and should be maintained at a steady beat to raise our hearts as a Community of Faith.

These are but a few of the insights to understanding the nature and purpose of our rich Inheritance of the Word and the transformative power of Worship that prepares us to bear witness as we are sent into a delirious, suffering humanity. The seminar Pastor Robyn and I attended recently in Berkeley was called “Living Liturgy” with the inherent challenge: How can we truly Live the Word and take it into the World?
Maestro Dennis plays on April 21st for a benefit for “Domestic Violence Prevention Center” at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center on Gibbons between Walnut and Garfield. Live Music & Art Exhibit! More info to follow
The Lord be with you, Maestro Dennis

Update. A new telephone directory will be out in April. If you have new information or corrections that you want to be included in our new directory, please make your changes on the “sample” directory in the narthex, it is on the table near the door. If you do not have any changes, just initial by your name, that way I will know you checked your current information and it is OK.
Also, if you would like your business to appear in our new “business section”, please include that information as well. You can simply submit a business card or write up what you want to appear in our new church directory. Duron Scott, Office Administrator
